Jerry Garritillo has been happily married to his wife Susan for 30 years.  He has two sons and three grandchildren that certainly have Jerry wrapped around their finger.  He attended schools around the world as he completed an Associate Degree from the CCAF.  He completed a highly decorated and successful 20 year career in the Air Force in 2003. His final job in the Air Force was as a recruiter, which enabled him to have more control over his duty locations, and most importantly, allowed him to be closer to his family. Jerry’s family has always played a central role is his life and journey, and continues to do so today in operating his business.

After 20 years in the Air Force, Jerry was eager to start a business and do something on his own.  During this time Jerry was helping his mother move to Florida, and also assisting her with understanding Medicare insurance and Jerry realized there was a need for seniors to receive quality and compassionate assistance with medical insurance in the Central New York area.  A few years down the road in 2008 and after graduating from the Barnes Family EBV program, The Garritillo Agency (TGA) was born. Initially Jerry was aware that his company had the ability to offer a wide range of insurance products, but instead Jerry decided to target a niche market—Medicare. Jerry always shares the story about helping his mother to potential clients, to emphasize that he takes his work very personally and wants to ensure great care for his clients just like his own mother.

“I focus on Veterans and folks with moderate to lower income because many of these people have nowhere to turn,” says Jerry.  In order to spread the word about his company in its intensely regulated industry, Jerry had to foster many relationships with various agencies and groups. He speaks at VFW’s, American Legions, volunteer groups and even at the library, to educate and market his company to potential customers.  Susan plays a strong support role for TGA and Jerry. “She is vital in the success of my business and helps me create wonderful relationships with my clients, which is so important in this type of business” says Jerry.*
